Every couple of weeks, the moderator would toss out a prompt, a line of text from liturgy or from the Tanach (Jewish bible), and invite members to compose new music based on the idea or on the text itself.
I;ve taken two of the three prompts so far and am enjoying the process. It's another opportunity to hone my skills and keep my brain sharp as both a songwriter and and player.
The most recent prompt was the line: da lifnei mi atah omeid -- "know before whom you stand", one of my favorite texts. If you consider the idea of "whom" in the phrase, then "whom" could be anything or anyone and the text becomes a lesson on paying attention, being really present, with whatever or whomever you encounter in a given moment. So it's in that spirit that I came up with this. Enjoy.
