But since the shutdown has forced cancellation of my gigs, I've been invited by The Universe -- and a few musician friends -- to do more drumming. This week, it's laying down a drum track for an exciting new song.
The song is a fitting crown to 49 days of counting, from Passover to Shavuot, marking off the turning of the seasons from Spring into Summer as we prepare to celebrate the receiving of Torah at Sinai.
I've been honored to be part of a group of amazing women artists who helped to count the Omer on Instagram this year, in a project called #sisterscount. The end of the counting will culminate in the festival of Shavuot, and the end of Sisters Count will culminate with a special online gathering at Lab/Shul of NYC, where this new song will be shared for the first time.
I spent some time this afternoon laying down a drum track for the video (above).
I look forward to doing more drumming by request for various artists online -- and later, when the shutdown is really over, in real life too.
Special props to Naomi Less, for herding all the cool cats who've helped make this project happen; and to Beth Styles for herding all the electronica to edit into an amazing, beautiful whole.
I cannot wait to see the finished video. I'll share links when it's available online.
Stay home and stay safe, friends, and hang in there.
