I am also dreaming bigger these days:
-- Home for awhile this winter, I've focused my attention on songwriting, and also on creating Judaic art.
I have a stack of original songs that I am considering for either a full-length album or a shorter, six-song EP. There are pros and cons to going either way and I am taking some time consider my options. If you have an opinion either way, use the contact form to drop me a line!
-- I am preparing to shoot a video for entry in NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts contest. I'm working with a videographer who will use the video for his student portfolio (he's studying video and audio production at a local community college). The winner will be invited to perform live at the NPR studios in Washington, DC. Either way, I'll share the video on my YouTube channel when it's done.
-- I've entered two songs to be considered for inclusion in the next volume of Transcontinental Music's Shabbat Anthology series. The deadline is coming up soon and winners will be announced in the early spring.
-- Finally, I am saving up to attend the NEWCaje conference in Chicago this summer. One of the ways I'm raising funds is that I've added a page here through which I'm selling my Judaic art, handmade from recycled or repurposed materials. Some items will require lead time as they are made to order, so if you're interested place your order now.
-- I am booking appearances and workshops NOW through May 2017. Tentative stops coming up include Bend, Oregon, the Kansas City area, and Philadelphia. If your synagogue is looking for an artist or teacher in residence, let me know! I'd love to talk with you about what I bring to your community.
Whatever your plans are, may the year 2016 bring you joy, health and peace.
Thanks for supporting LIVE Jewish music!
See you next year!
